Has anyone else had issues with the Rock Shox Tora fork? I recently bought a FSR XC bike for my son. He had it for a few rides (about 2 weeks) and the fork died. Took it back to the LBS and they were cool about standing behind it. They sent it back to RS to be fully rebuilt.....sweet. But then yesterday, after only 2 rides again, it died again. Frustrating for him, as it was at RS 6 weeks last time.
Just wondering if anyone has had issues. I know this is not an upper level fork, but I thought it would have decent reliability. |

Not sure what you mean by "it died" but I have had a Tora 318 for about a year and not a single issue so far. It's been on 2 different bikes without any problems.
What air pressures were you running?

I have 2: one on the fsrxc, and one that i bought here for 75 bucks.
both are 302 coil sprung. the $75 one is a u-turn. the other is fixed at 100 and has a lockout. neither has "died" on me, but i had to replace the seals on the 75 buck one. i like the $75 one, but the one on the fsrxc is very harsh. i had it on my ss for a while, and i switched back to the rigid fork because it was not very squishy. so if you can find an older u-turn one at 3am in the marketplace here for 75 clams, i'd get that one.

It is the coil sprung, 302 model, with the lockout. What I mean by die is originally, the lockout froze up, then the entire shock bound up, with no movement at all. RS rebuilt everything. Put in new seals and a new coil. The same thing happened a few days ago. Lockout gone, and there is about 1 inch of travel.
Sounds like this is an isolated case, but hopefully it will get resolved. Bummer is he looses bike for extended period of time when this happens. Thanks for your replies......... |
