Default 06 Marz 66rc2x on an 05 Giant Reign?

Hey all, Im looking at getting an 06 66rc2x for my Reign and i was wondering if there is anyone here running this fork. Does it fit? Im just worried about the axle to crown ratio. By the way, the fork is internally adjustable from 150 to 170. Im running an 05 Reign 3. It will be set to 170mm.

The 2006 Marz forks seemed to be very solid forks. I run a 2006 66 on my RFX at 170mm. I am used to overforking bikes and get used to climbing on them. Yes I have a Hopey damper on it and it cancells out the wander, concerning the front coming up on climbs, you adjust very fast. Put it on there.

if you plan on running it, set it at 150mm.. .the AC height for the fork at 170mm is 555.2mm while having it set at 150mm makes it 535.2mm.. i was running a Z1 light eta on mine and the AC for that fork at 150mm travel is 538.5.. that being said, when set at 150mm you really have to scoot forward on the seat when climbing to keep the front end down and from wandering.

Geometry, i never got around to measure HA or STA, but in regards to BB height it was 14.5" with the Z1.. can't imagine how high it will be with a 170mm 66.. just my two cents

Thanks for the input guys. I plan on using it as more of a light duty freeride/dh rig. Since we just bought a house, the dream of owning a full 8" dh bike has been put to the side until things clear up a bit. So yeah, i know climbing will be a b**ch but descending is where the fun will be. I my only concern now is the crown hitting the downtube on full lock. Does anyone know if this will happen with the fork set to 170mm?

Should not be a problem.

Not sure a totally understand your question. The distance between the crown and the downtube should not change at different fork travel adjustments, am I missing something here?

Im just talking about when the fork is fully turned left or right. For example when you crash and your bars are totally twisted one way, there is a chance that the crown of the fork would hit the downtube thus denting it or even breaking it. This is my concern. If you guys say it will work, cool. Ill see what happens once the fork comes in. Ill post pics as well.

the 66 will work fine on the bike clearance wise.. not sure if you are already doing it, but you can run a 2.25" stroke shock on the bike to add .75" of travel on the back and it drops the bb height and slackens it out a bit to reignx spec.

I think the 07 66's have a lower AtoC then the 06's even at 180mm. Your LBS should be able to put a new headset on there if there are any clearance issues. Great fork though, go for it.

2005 was the year of 66 with super long A-C length because of the 888 lowers.
