Default Which fork?

I need your advice. I have been out of the game for a couple of years. I used to work in the industry, ride, and race regularly. I changed careers and quit riding for nearly two years. Now, I am back on the bike (and waiting for my balls to drop again). My question relates to my new bike. I purchased a new bike that came with a Rock Shox Revelation 426. I never was a fan of RS. Plus, I had an '03 Manitou Black lying around so I switched over the forks. The Black is nice (it is custom built and tuned) but I have noticed a slight bit of flex. It has 30mm stantions with 120mm travel. It is mated to a 5.5" travel AM frame. Originally I thought I would ride on the Black for now, sell the RS, then buy a Fox 32 Vanilla. Is the RS worth keeping or should I spring for the Fox? What are your experiences with both forks. Many thanks for your responses.

I liked my revelation, it was a solid fork. I only stopped using it because I switched to a 29er.

I've not heard too many people complain about the Revelation. Of course, Vanillas have an almost fanatical following. People either love them or hate them; but the folks that love them REALLY love them. Frankly, you can't really go wrong with either one.

Of course, if you sell both the Revelation & the Manitou, you should have most of the cost of the Vanilla covered.

not sure what bike you have, but ditch them all and get a Fox 36 Float or Van

Default Love Fox Forks

If weight is a concern I would recommend the Fox Float 140mm travel (RLC full adjustability 3.89 lbs. or R 3.75 lbs.). If not the Fox Vanilla 140mm travel (RLC 4.37 lbs. or R 4.3 lbs.). They make a really great product!

OK, to add another variable to the equation. I see Push now offers a rebuild for the RS Revelation. What are your experiences with Push? worth keeping the Rev and getting it Push'd? Thanks again.

I don't know if the damping is any different between the Pike and the Revelation but the stiffness gained with a through axle is noticeable.

If your front hub is convertible it may be worth looking into.

The Vanilla does not have any platform or travel adjust so if you need that but still want a coil fork, you could look into the Pike coil.
