Default aarrrrggh....26" tube in 29er?

what's the damn trick to this?

I've heard of adding a few psi to the tube to get it. That ain't working. And i'm about to give myself blisters on both thumbs like I did last time.

You really couldn't stretch the tube to fit?

Blow it up quite a bit outside the tire...it will get huge then tuck it in the tire with half the tire on the rim, then let some air out. This should make quick work of it for you.

Let me know if it works...never tried it myself

Stretch it over the rim and pump it up. I've done it with 26" Slime tubes and never had a problem.

You should just go tubeless on your rims. Yellow tape + valve stem + Stan's and you're done.

If I had some rim tape i'd be on this. But SM8's = hard to set as tubeless

inb4tubelesscrossmark is better

It sounds like you may be missing the trick. You want to get the tube fully over the rim before you install the second half of the tire. You'll have to experiment with pressure to make it work.

Years ago, I used to use 16" tubes in my 20" BMX bikes and 20" tubes in my 24" bikes - there's a lot less material to stretch than a 26 to 29 install.

I stretch the tube by inflating it overnight before trying in install it in a tire. Also work the tube/tire on the rim from the opposite side of the stem. The stem will hold the tube in the channel while you work your way around.

Default Just play around with it...

Pratice makes perfect. I have never run a 29 tube...but did a lot of cursing in the begining

I usuallt put a little air in it so it pops on the rim and helps hole it in place

Why put a 26" tube on a 29" rim?

because they can fit (though I gave up and threw in a 29er tube until I go tubeless tomorrow or so). A lot of "lightweight" tubes out there are 26" as well, which is what I was trying to fit in.

For race days I use Spec. 26" Turbo Tubes in 29" stan's rims

Works so far.
