Are these just going to be one-offs? Or are you considering to mass produce? I like the looks of your design and it looks like it would be perfect for a plastics application. I know some mold makers who would love to quote this.

Here is The Machinist for you...

Great movie... Christian Bale (current Batman) got way skinny for that role.

For all intensive purposes, it will be close to a one-off deal. I am only planning on getting 15 or so housings made. 6 of those for myself and a few friends, and the rest in reserves for people who would like a more refined housing for their lights.

While it would be an excellent part to make out of plastic (a little bit of draft angle and you could mold them quite easily), plastics don't lend themselves to the good heatsinking that LEDs require. 2x cree R2's running at an amp will generate a good amount of heat. Now, if your buddies have some miracle plastic that conducts heat as well as aluminum (or at least close), then I would be more than interested.

Spooky Dave, It would be a pretty interesting project for a manual machine. Sure, I know how to set everything up and how to make it, but boy am I too impatient for what would be needed to make these by hand.

I would thank you twice if I could Dave. I just sent him an email and We'll see what we come up with.

I'm starting to get disheartened though. I took my drawings to a guy a few doors down from where I work, and he quoted about 750 for 15 each of both parts I suppose that it still isn't that bad, since it's only about 50/housing, but that's still a lot of money (I could get a new 36 talas for that).

well, dave's friend got me a much better quote, but I'm wondering if anyone here would be interested in perhaps purchasing either a housing or a fully built light head? I'll have probably 8-9 spares after i build up my own 6 or 7 lights. I just would like to know if there's serious interest in them before I go and drop a new fork's worth of money on lights.

Drop me a PM and I can get you expected specs and rough prices.

Cheers

-Bryan
