Default Help: Where to Install Joplin Remote Control

Just got a Joplin R adjustable seatpost.

The instructions from Crank Brothers are a little cryptic and I'd like to see where some people have installed their Joplin remote joystick.

Any suggestions would be mush appreciated.

I got mine on the left top side of my handlebar, between the grips and the brake and shifter clamps.

Thats where I put mine also...on the left side of the bars. Was actually very convenient and easy to use there.

Yup - you basically just push or pull on it, and that in turn pulls the cable which activates the seatpost.

If you have weight on your saddle, the seat will go down when activated. If you're off the saddle, the seat will go up when activated. Think of the height adjustment on a pneumatic office chair - it's very similar.

Why do I not have this? Does it weigh a ton?

Total weight is in the 530g range, so roughly 250g (~ >1/2 lb) heavier than your normal Thomson seatpost?

The non-remote Joplin is about 460ish grams, which isn't quite as bad. Because you can't cut it down much, it weighs almost the same as three cut down Thomson posts (for my application). I have the non-remote, and I really like how convenient it is. I just hate how you can pull up on the seat when it's lowered (although it springs back down when you release it). The side-to-side slop also sucks. But having one of these posts is super convenient! On my last trip to Gooseberry, I think I used it every 100 feet or so, raising or lowering the seat. I also found myself leaving it at half height a lot.

BTW, they're only available in 30.9 and 31.6 mm sizes.

I put my "joystick" on my left side. Just make sure you you check the collar frequently. I just had mine work its way loose and have to send it back to Maverick for service....
