XC not DH for me
|
I brought it in and the mechanic wanted to charge me 60 dollars to remove and install it. I got one side off, it was that self extracting type. Now, How do I get the rest of it out to install on another bike?

Is it an X-Type crank? I've got the Atlas crankset and the driveside is self-extracting. To get the non-driveside off, I use a rubber mallet. Since I've got an external BB, I have the Park socket to get it off.

How do you get the internal stuff out? I am pretty sure mine has the external BB for the dérailleur too. |

An 8 mm allen wrench on the drive side will get the cranks to self extract. make sure not to remove the 10 mm screw on the outside of the 8 mm screw, otherwise it won't extract. you just pull the non-drive side out once the drive side is removed.
you need a bottom bracket tool to remove the BB. this takes all of 10 seconds, so most mechanics will do this for a 22 oz bottle of Stone Pale Ale that costs you $4.
