Loop'n on my Heckler
![]() |
I have had my T2 for over a year with obsolutely NO problems. Anticipating a lot of riding this summer, I hit the 20%-Off sale at REI, turned in my dividends and bought the 2-bike extension kit.
I got to use it this weekend for a Boy Scout Troop ride at the beach. The problem lies with the two bolts Thule supplies to secure the kit to the main carrier. The bolts are M12-1.75 x 40mm (~1-1/2+"). With the supplied washer & lockwasher the bolts will not engage the nut. Using only the lockwasher, you only get one or two threads of engagement. Luckily, I have a nice assortment of metric fasteners and solved my problem. I used a M12-1.75 x 50mm (about 3/8" longer) and it worked perfectly. Just a heads up - no one wants see bikes laying on the side of the road (except maybe Iron Horsies )

There is absolutely nothing worse than looking back and having your bike not there....nothing. (okay there are worse things but at the moment you couldn't have convinced me)
