As I wait and wait for my birthday to come around (11 days), I had an idea. If I take the broken link out of my chain, press it back together on any given cog, I could potentially have a singlespeed. Is there anything that could cause problems? It seems logical to me.
EDIT: I forgot about the problem of rear suspension. On my Weyless XP 5" frame, I would most likely need a chain tensioner. :'( Last edited by genusmtbkr5; 05-16-2008 at 02:37 PM. Reason: moved to workshop |

How to remove a chain, the correct way.
![]() Broke the rear. Broke seems like an understatement. One of the chain links is bent out of wack as well. It broke in two. |

If you really really want to do it then I would use the front middle chain ring and like the 3rd to 4th gear from the outside for proper gearing. |
