Building an AM bike for 500

A while back I took my friends brother riding with a group and he was the only one that really caught the bug, and asked me to build him a bike. I willing to Donate some parts to him off my old spesh and maybe just hang the spesh up in the garage, as its kinda old and wont fetch much on the market.

Things Im donating to his bike:

Cranks
headset
seat post
stem
handlebar
seat clamp
shifters
rear dérailleurs(I can only give him my front D if it fits)
Disc brakes
wheel set
tires
Grips
Cassette

Things he will want to buy:

Frame
Fork
Front D(if mine doesn't fit)

so most of the parts are taken care of he just needs a banging deal on a frame/fork combo and maybe that front D, small things like cable housing might be need later for said frame

He should ride a medium, can anyone help????

hes roughly 5'8", Im only saying med because Im 5'8" and I ride a med.
