Just curious what folks run for a rim strip. Share your preferences and thoughts.

I usually use the stock one that comes on my wheels. The nylon one, I think, works the best. My brother tried using strapping tape one his wheels and they are a pain to get on and off. Granted once their on, they stay on the wheel.

velox from the path and also the forte one from performance... both worked out well for me. both are good, but i am not too experienced with them? i cleaned the inside of the rim well, and haven't had any problems moving around... looked inside and changed the tubes adn tires a few times. only buy another set of rim tape cause i got another set of wheels.

I run Mavic's EX823 so there is no need for a rimstrip.

factory rim strip but when that goes bad good o'l gorilla tape aka duct tape but dont use the cheap sh@t it gets brittle

duct tape doesnt move around and fits more snug than rim strips do, real o.g stuff

I agree...I was having some problem with my original rim tape slipping, it caused 5 or 6 flats between the from and the back tires when they started to go, they were pulling the valve and no way to repair the tubes before I figured out what was going on. I had one roll of regular rim tape thinking it would cover both rims, so I fixed the front. Then the rear tire started having the same problem..and Hugh pulled out the packing tape and it was perfect. Haven't had any problems.

Thanks Hugh (root beer) for you

i had the same problem with the velox on stan's arches.

ditched the tape, strapping tape (or nothing) allowed the tires to get on.

wait, we talking about rim strips or rim tape?

Stans yellow tape or ribbed packing tape with sealant - i haven't run tubes in 4 or 5 years, but i tried duct tape whilst out of Stan's yellow and it was a mess.

A strip of tape/something that goes around the rim on the inside (between the rim and tube) so as to protect the tube from the spoke nipple holes.
