Since going 2.35 nev on my ss, my 2.1 pannies on the fs gearie seem way squirrelly. I'm digging it.

I may be old, but I'm fat

2.35 UST HighRoller up front and 2.1 UST Nevegal in the back. Switched from a Blue Groove up front. HighRoller is the best cornering tire I have ever ridden. Am old and slow too. Give me traction over weight any day. Rode/raced Hurkey Creek on Small Block 8's and felt like I skidded around the whole course. Between training and racing, likely rode them for 200 miles and NEVER felt comfortable on them. As always YMMV...

i ride bikes

I've decided to go with the XC Pro in the back. I've heard very good things about it and decided I'll never know if like "bigger" tires if I don't try it. So I'll go 2.3 front/2.1 rear. I ride to the trailhead in fullerton and I think I would just tear through the Nevegal if I put it on there.
Thanks for all the input. |

Thumbs up. That's the combo I'm running now and I like it. I had 2.1 SB8's front & rear last fall and the bike felt really fast, but come winter with green grass and some mud and the front would wash out. So i went 2.3 Neve up front. Sometimes I look down now at the 2.3 Neve and think it looks like a tractor tire by comparison. A 2.1 probably would've been fine (I'm not a big guy). But I can run the pressure low for great traction. It's definitely heavier & slower, but DH control is much improved. I don't feel the 2.1 SB8 out back is detrimental to braking traction -- the front does most of the work.

IMHO the nevegal sticky is the best front tire I have ever used as far as traction goes. If it does wash out it is very predictable!

Good call on the tire choice, hope it works out well. I have been very happy with the Nevegal 2.3 on the back of my DH rig for great hookup and ability to power out a few pedal strokes. I did not have good luck w/the tubeless 2.1 Nevegals on the back of my Yeti575 but it may have been a fluke failure or the fact that I treat all my tires with no love
See you on the trail.
