Default Pike issues: Shock experts help??

ok so I bought a Pike 409 off a seller on Craiglist(insert suggestion of shadiness here) a while back and its currently on my Giant. Once I finished the build I noticed that the compression button had no resistnece when I turned it, and it doesn't lock out(even though its suppose to) It still rebounds and compresses, and the U-turn function works fine.

I'm not much on locking out but it would be nice to adjust the compression and maybe lock out on tougher hills(for me a tougher hill is Cholla)...any ideas on the issue? I kind of left it for now because I can still ride fine but having things in full working order is important to me. TIA as always.

Sounds like a leaky Motion Control damper which needs oil to function properly. You'll need to remove the damper and replace the oil. Check out the SRAM website they detail exactly how to do it. It's really easy actually, definitely a DIY. If you continue to have problems after changing the oil take it to a shop.

I've had a terrible time with leaky MC damper on my Reba. I've replaced one already and now my second one is leaking. Hopefully you won't have the same bad luck.

Most likely, the fork was laying down, and all of the oil drained out through a leaky O-ring under the adjusters. I'm starting to find out that this is a common issue with this fork. Check and adjust the fluid level, and you'll probably be OK. You may want to replace the O-ring.
