i also have one of these. i got the one with the painted red aluminum barrel and its been working like a champ for the last 2 years. i didnt get the uber bling chromed one and i dont think you'd really need it. it feels solid and the gauge goes up to 160. i feel the best part about it is the smart valve head. if im pumping up a presta i turn the knob on the head a little tighter and if im using a schrader i open it up a bit. i guess the only qualms i have about this pump is that the gauge is mounted to the foot piece so its a bit far away when you really need that tire pressha to be at 116 exactly.
good luck

The black ones were on sale for $20 bucks at Rock & road over the weekend. I should have just gotten another one instead of the uber bling diamond plate Wrench Force one I have the sucks balls. Maybe I can put the Specialized head on the Wrench Force one. The smart valve head works good.

I have a Giant and it is sooooo temperamental....getting the chuck on correctly and freely pumping air.

When I asked the shop why it was so difficult to pump air into they replied I wasn't doing it correctly.

But truthfully, it's 50/50. Sometimes it's a great fit and air goes in freely, other times (when in a hurry) I have to play with the stupid thing for 10 minutes.

Have you ever noticed how top heavy they are? Mine has fallen over countless times bruising toes and feet. Makes for a good weapon, though. If an intruder comes into my house, that's what he'll get upside his head.

i really hate to say it but, in my experience, specialized makes great accessories. i've got their pro carbon mtb shoes, carbon and aluminum bar ends, and floor pump. all have served their purposes well and even surprised me with the quality sometimes.
the shoes are light and wicked comfy, the carbon bar ends fit my hands perfectly, and the floor pump has NEVER been finicky filling both schraders or prestas. oh and i really like their pre-talc'd road tubes. if you really wanted the handles of the pump to be super cushy, you could throw on a set of old grips and be happy with it. i guess i dont like the idea of supporting the corporate giant, but they do make some great stuff.

Serfas Airbones.
At least 5 years old and still going strong. The head started to go and stopped sealing correctly so I bought an uber-cheap pump and just replaced the pump head. Voila! Just like new.

Easy to read pressure guage, pumps up to 160 pounds and I can get it to seal tubeless if I fiddle with the tires just right.

Buy a nice craftsman 5 gal compressor with needed attachments and let the other guys bring silly floor pumps on the trips. I havent owned a floor pump for 15 years the compressor does the job in 5 seconds flat (no pun intended) and chaos brings the floor pump if we need it

I have both a specialized pump and hurricane team pump and they both work perfectly fine with exactly the same performance. They are both fairly new (under a year) and honestly don't see a ridiculous amount of use. I'm sure both will last me a good while.

I have one of the fancy digital gizmos like Hugh's. Got a little 'precipitation' on it one time. Now it is..... useless

final verdict: Silca Terra

why?

fewest plastic bits
fully rebuild-able
presta only.
NOT digital

Does your pump have wood?

You are susceptible to termite infestations.

Very safety conscious. It floats and doubles as a snorkel

Default Got Gauge?

Where the pump with a good gauge? On my Joe
Blow Sport its a guessing game to see if your pressure is 34 or 38.
Does anyone know if I can replace that gauge with an after market one with more precision?

check with either pain suppliers for HVLP system gauges- either that or regulator gauges for airbrush systems- those are about the only ones i can think of that run low enough pressure to be similar to a pump gauge.

34 to 38 should have a line in there for 35, shouldn't it?
