Default cyclocomputer magnet position help please

hey guys, another toy for the bike! okay, i got my cyclo computer hooked up and ready to go. and just found out my rear wheel magnet is not close enough to my sensor?

are there any tricks that you guys have to push the sensor or put on a stronger magnet? anyways, let me know what you guys think...

i think i got to space it at least half an inch? the instructions say i need minimum 3mm...

ok, the rear wheel? is the computer mounted in the front? wireless, or wired?

Do you have a cadence with that? If not, the pickup should be mounted on the fork.

yea, this is cadence model...

i have the cateye strata

oh no, i get the hint that i need to buy another model now?

instructions say that it needs to be mounted on rear... man, i took so much time to wire it up, i dont want to have to change computers... may be cadence is only for hard tails?

i would mount the doo hickey , and pivot it on the little rubber thing until its almost touching the magnet when the wheels spins

No. If you desire to use one with a cadence, then it has to be mounted on there rear, but you'll have to mount it closer to the rim rather than the the hub to close that gap or it will not pickup. Not sure of that model, but you should have one mounted on the front too.

mine is really close... maybe fit 2-3 business cards when you spin the wheel... thats how close it is to the sensor
No more than 5 mm is usually the limit..

and just to throw it out there...
the cadence is nice, and im not sure how it works, i think it gets an average speed then tells you once you pass it or are going to slow on the display
for the retail of 59.99, it'd be nice in my opinion to buy the wireless model, for the same price, since it tells you if your going faster than the average speed, or slower than the aaverage apeed, working similar to that of a cadence type thing

now i get it, theres something on the crank to show RPM's. Well, i just got my wireless strada, and i love it. Like i said, there are little arrows that show if your going faster or slower than average speed.. so just glance down at your speed every 15 seconds or so

i like the strata only because it was easy to press the button... the whole unit is the button, i tried another and it was hard to press...

cadence was just soemthign that came with it, and i like wire just for reliability... i will take it back and look at comparable units... i think this unit was 35 bucks? it was on sale...

oh maybe i was referring to the wrong model, or it really was on sale. theres the wired model for 29.99 retail which im sure has the similar arows for average speed

One of the magnets should have mounted on the crank arm(cadence), the other should mount on the fork for MPH and distance.

Just get a reg computer. You don't really need a cadence unless you're training. They have fairing inexpensive wireless ones at most of the shops.

You're a Mechanical Engineer and you're having trouble with a simple cyclocomputer?
