I think most of those wired cadence sensors are really setup for road bikes. The chainstay, tire and crank arms are a lot closer together on road bikes. IMHO, a heart rate monitor is lot more important than cadence. Unless, as Gene said, you're training.

Have any onld tires, tubes or grips?
If so, cut them up and use them as shims under the sensor to move it closer to the magnet. Grips work the best of those three. If you get another one I will suggest the Vetta RT255 or 255L for 29$ Works great, easily set up and if you ride at night the "L" version has the brightest light I have seen on a cylocomputer. You may need to order it though as I have not found any shop to carry that model. They seem to carry the roadie 'puters that go for 100+ bucks.

you know, i was thinking about all kinda of things... but dude, i need to space it in another .5 to .75 inches! that is alot of layers of grip? and since it is rubber, wouldn't there be issues with vibration and also it may be holing up when i hit the bumps at a hard angle?

yea, i think they are made to be closer... my cadence sensor is okay, it is just the rear triangle... but as gene said, i dont' think i need cadence, i just got it cause i like the strata and the strata cadence was the only model there... so i just bought it... |

nuts... i pressed the back button! let me save th pics first then type my text...
okay, i picked up my new cyclocomputer and setup everything just now. wanted to show you guys to put an end to this thread. so here it is on my handle bar fully loaded... i loaded up the bike to weigh it... came out to 35.5 pounds... with headlight, 24oz water, multitool, and cyclocomputer... so happy i am not above 40... i did want to mention, the factory magnet didn't fit on my spokes. i think the dt swiss spokes i have are thicker? anyways, i had to buy another one. i got the shimano magnet magnet instead. so if you need a magnet for larger spoke diameters... this may work for you... here is the stock one... ![]() new magnet installed... ![]() ![]() i really like the white color... matches my bike well... i may use acetone to wipe off the lettering on the sides... ![]() so this is how the sensor sits. this is how it is supposed to be. very close to the magnet. ![]() here is how i wired it down to the hub. i wanted to go all the way to the caliper on the brake side... but couldn't get the magnet close to the sensor while not hitting the rotor. anyways, it looks good. i zip tied the cables at the middle cause there was a slight chance that the cable would rub the tire. so i didn't want to chance anything... ![]() i am going to take the bike out for a spin tonight to check the milage and stuff... i will edit later tongiht and post my ride and its clarity while riding... but i don't see anyposiible flaws... it even has a temp sensor... very cool... |
