FYI, the first year of i-Drive production was 1999. I had one of them as a warranty replacement for a broken Team LTS. Sold it a few years back and it's still going strong. OTB? Sounds like operator error.

Pacific bought GT in late 1991, so I think that he was talking about 1993. He just may have had the frame model wrong. But you are right, I don't think they made i-drives back then.

Here's my former custom 2000 GT XCR-1000.
It originally came ball burnished, then I hand polished it then sent it out to be anodized. I added the chrome stickers from a GT Ruckus X, and a billet head badge from an LE (Limited Edition). Since this frame was made in Santa Ana, I added the ping pong paddle stickies (there was a ping pong table near the R&D area). The titanium dog bone had actual needle bearings and was also an LE. The bottom bracket assembly was the ultralight LE version, too. And, of course, the shock was one of a handful custom made coil shocks from Rock Shox. I loved that bike. I was sorry the day I sold that frame. Even compared to my modern bikes, that bike is still one of my favorites - if not the favorite. Despite many of the frames from this era failing, I beat the crap out of it, and it never broke.

Lee, that's a bitchin ride. Mine was Cosmic Sunrise with a polished rear triangle. I eventually scored a disc rear triangle which made that bike a'ight. I used to ride it in West Virginia and it rocked.

Sorry yes 2003, forgive me my age sometimes reveals itself.
The GT was my first bike and the people that I first started riding with told me trails like T&A and some of the other now illegal trails in Laguna where intermediate trails. I tried things back then that I don't like to do on my RFX. That bike was fine climbing I just had no business using it like I did with a Rock Shock Judy and not knowing any better. Dean

Ooops...I read it wrong... DENVER, USA (September 12) - Pacific Cycles has bought Schwinn/GT for $86 million at an auction of the federal bancruptcy court of Colorado. After an initial bid of $63 million earlier last month, bidding between the two contenders Huffy and Pacific went up to a final Pacific bid of $86 million. Schwinn’s fitness division will be sold separately. (OB) Published @ 12-09-2001 Take everythng I said back
