so i'm looking at maybe doing a 30t chainring on my SS and i dont think my 104 BCD truvativ stylo crank will work...as i couldnt find anyone making 30t chainrings.
What can i get, spiderless or not that will allow me to run 30t or more flexibility in chainring options |

Justin ran an Xtra-lite 30T chainring on his XT crankset for awhile. Then he snapped it and it ruined his crankset, so he doesnt use them anymore.
YMMV ![]() |

30T Foo?!
I get ragged on for my low gearing on my SS (32:21). Unless you're planning on running a 1x9 why would you want to use a 30T on a SS?

Now that is just silly. But if it's worth the hassle of possibly getting a new cranks, new front 30T chainring, more chain wear just to have that Ti hardware. Go FOO it!

You can order direct from Xtra-lite's site (do a google search). They are in Italy. Most shops (we've asked locally) kind of say it isn't worth it since they have to order like $500 worth of product.
Call Brian at the Path. He may have other sources for them. |

if he had 26" wheels he could still use that cog, so maybe swap out the wheels for 26ers

Get a 29T chainring. Those are easy to find. 29x19 on 29er is pretty good.
I won't mock you. I rode a 28T chainring for a LONG time. |

i know it seems awful petty to change out the drivetrain for a dam piddly cog but it could be a good excuse to get a new drive train
allison thank you for that...you know i think my new neighbor Jeff Sims still has that bontrager crank w/ the 28t boone's chainring ![]() |

I think Foo hopes those little cogs will make his legs look bigger.
