Stop stealing my thunder!

There's a special tool for this. It's called a disc tab facing tool. The tool is for IS mounts only, btw.

Was the problem resolved? If it hasn't, give me a holler and I'll give it a go.

Yes, I'm braking evenly. And the mech determined it is in the rear.
For good measure, he installed new pads (resin?) and said rotor was worn. Not warped; but worn. So he ordered a rotor and off I went. I demoed a Specialized Enduro at the Loop and have not yet ridden my bike since the new pad installation. Hugh checked out my rotor after Fully Loop last night and said it was in perfectly good condition. He did not find it worn at all; perfectly straight... So I suppose I will cancel the order for the new rotor... So, now I guess my mech doesn't know what he's doing. Frustrating....he's a cute young guy and very nice to me but if he doesn't know what he's doing then I better move on to a new bike shop. [quote=DBD;270162]I would hope yer using both front and rear brakes at these times? If that is the case your vibration could possibly be coming from the rear and not the front so check both claipers/rotors including the torque on pivot bolts and bushings in the suspension |

BTW, thanks for everyone's contribution of suggestions. I took notes on every suggestion and gave them to my mech. He did check off every item/concern listed. He said he went through all of those. I'm just uncertain as to why he thought I had a bad rotor when Hugh said mine was fine. I trust Hugh's opinion.
Pato, I'll be climbing and descending Mathis/Rock It/Cholla tomorrow so I will be testing my screaming brakes. If the problem isn't resolved I may send you a pm and take you up on your offer. Thank you. |
