i am actually thinking about replacing my chainstay protector soon... it is old and i got a simple idea. i am talking about the clear sticker on the rear of the bike where the chain possibly hits the frame of the bike? basically the yellowed sticker... i think it used to be clear...
![]() so i had this idea of putting the socal trailriders sticker there. and finding something to cover it... may be a huge mylar sheet that can protct the sticker and also the frame from chain rub? but i have no idea where to find somethign like that. want to show a my supprt for the website, and i thought that place would be perfect! anyways, let me know what you guys think... |

Let me see if I can get some clear polyester label material, maybe even a 5 mil... I might be able to get some 8.5x11 sheets for you. I will pm you tomorrow and let you know.
Do me a favor and "bump" this thread in the morning some time so I don't forget...

Just get a strip of the stuff that they use for clear bras for cars. I don't know how that'll hold up to a metal chain bouncing constantly bouncing off it though.
The other stuff you can use is Lamin-X. Thats the stuff you stick on the healights to protect from chips. I have the Lamix-X on my lights...its thicker than the clear bra. ![]() |

i swear to god i just had this same idea. Involves getting a black STR sticker (probably have someone i know make it) then covering it up with a clear removable coat. My first thought was that clear bra stuff, but it appears to be too thin

i am thinking about just putting the lizard skin on the top part... worst comes to worst, i think it won't be too bad when it is partially covered... i think the top clear sticker would help to make it last longer, i am sure the corners of the str sticker will start peeling when i clean up the bike often...
anyways, it should work for now as a last resort... |

Call Eurosport in Anaheim. They are a Lamin-X dealer. You might be able yo buy a small sheet from them. 714 630 1555.
Make sure you get enough so that it wraps around the chain stay and get any bubbles out of there. |
