Default Zion frames run large???

So we rode sycamore today and I brought out my Zion I like the bike at the loop but I hate it for techincal stuff, not because its a hardtail but because I feel like im way to high up on it and it has a tendancy to nose dive( well i have trouble getting the fron end up.) I drop the stem from 110mm to 90mm today and it still feels like it could use something? I just dont feel in control on that bike like i do on my other bikes is this typical for a 29er? Im thinking about getting rid of it as a frame/fork/wheel package and transfering the parts to a 26er fr
ps im 5'7" with a 30" in seam

maybe you're not setup properly on the bike? because on my 26'er and 29'er zion i was able to finesse the bike on some technical rock outcroppings. the 29'er does sit a wee bit higher for obvious reasons...dont give up on it yet

i ride L or XL 26er's....

but my large zion 'ziner' fits big. Just takes some time getting it all dialed.

Zions run a little bit a little on the long side. My large 19" Kona has and effective top tube of 24". My Zion is 24.5".

Actually, I think the Niner's geometry is pretty close to Zion's.

dang zions are done, and all jensons has left is EBB bikes maybe i could make a hanger but i might be better off just looking for something different its not the cockpit thats killing me its the standover so its not really something i can fix with stem bars etc

Ricky, I'm 5'7" and I would be riding a small Zion if I had one. You should ride someone's small 29er to see the difference.

I think SDYeti and speckledtrout have small Niners.

Standover clearance on my Large Niner is a bit tight, but I guess that's incentive to ride instead of stand still.

I ride a Fisher 29er HT and I feel very comfortable on it. I am 5'11" and it's a large frame. Maybe try a low riser bar if you don't have one already? My riding position is farther back once I put on the riser bar. Mine feels stable even with a flat bar but I prefer more upright position.
