Default Good bike for a skatepark / city fun?

i've got my next project in mind: a hardtail that can hold up at a skatepark or maybe some 3-5 stair drops, anybody know a specific bike up to this task?

What specifically matters in this type of bike? Frame strength/ wheels / shocks?

oh, that's beautiful!

although, $1000 may be a little expensive, is that kind of the bottom bracket of a bike you'd get for this purpose? or is there something cheaper?

It may be against my better judgement to recomend the competition, but I've ridden the Santa Cruz Jackal a few times -

And its a freakin sweet bike, not super cheap, but its got all the right stuff. the short rear end allow for easy manuals, couple of sizes to make sure you can get one to fit. One of those beat the Sh*t out of bikes, that'll go on forever!

We are sold out on the white with blue trim. The guys at Blackmarket say that the next 357 bikes they get in will be in 09 colors yet to be anounced.

We have black ones in stock.

The 357 is under $900 here at The Path afer STR discount.

If this is still too rich for your blood, take a look at the Specialized P1. The geo is somehat similar, and it's hundreds less.
