Default Hayes 22mm rear caliper and/or adapter??

I've got a Homegrown that is a small. The rear triangle is super tight. I want to run a disc in the rear. I've seen the A2Z one...but I know that one won't work.

Has anyone seen this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...link:middle:us

Maybe this one?

Did all the Hayes 22mm mount in the same place?

Anyone have an old Hayes laying around?

Thanks
-Lee

Someone offered me one for 40 shipped. Is that a good deal?

"Its been sitting with the 2 halves apart for awhile, but was never used. I think I stole the center o-ring out of it to rebuild one of my other calipers."

I don't know anything about this particular caliper.

How about this? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=20557
I used to have a frame with the 22mm mounting and I just ran v-brakes in the rear.

I think I have a Hayes 22mm caliper at my father's house. I'll try to make it by there this weekend. If I remember, it actually may be brand new, or close to new.

I just might end up keeping the V brake in the rear. I have the combo XT/brake lever setup. That means I have to get a new shifter and brake lever. I have BB7's in the front now. I'm going to end up with Franken-brakes.

I don't think that adapter from Chain Reaction is going to work. The rear triangle is super tight...the caliper is going hit the seatstay.

Here is my rear tri...will this work?

All the 22mm's mounted in the same spot in relation to the rotor. I think that QBP still has the parts so that you could build up a 22mm caliper.... that way you could get a used set of hayes mags, and just replace the 74mm caliper half with a 22mm half.

just a thought...

couldn't find the parts on the QBP site, but I did find this -

AD- PMR Features/Benefits: Adapter for parallel disc mount of Trek, Klein, Jamis...to convert to international standards disc mount Enlarge your rotor diameter 20 to 25mm for increased more braking power! Weight: 45g

http://www.a2zcomponents.com/OLD-web/Adapter/adap01.htm

may be a better choice as this way you could use a 74mm cable actuated disc instead!

Default A2Z is Crappy

Go to Adrenaline Bikes and have Neil get you a Hayes Caliper, from Hayes. This will fit your frame with no adaptor. The A2Z adaptor is crappy and will give you problems. If you do not have a Hayes HFX9 or Mag you are probably S.O.L.

but then re-reading the original post a new Hayes way is the only way to go, or stick with V-s

I obviously havn't drank enough beer today!

Thanks for the info.

I think I'm just going to stick with the V's in the rear and BB7's in the front. Mullet style.

Do you happen to still have any of that hardware available for the Hayes 22mm brake set up? I have a 2000 Schwinn Moab Hard Tail that I am converting to disc. Thanks.
