Default what's with the Stan's Arch rims?

backordered everywhere????

checked 3 of STR's favorite LBS's, nope, backordered. Went on ebay, and a store on there selling them says they're backordered. Went on MTBR, emailed two guys that run their own shops, both say backordered. Notubes.com themselves have them out of stock.

guess i didn't learn my lesson on my last build: order the wheels ASAP. Waited on Mavic last time, Stan's this time.

anywho, the guesses i'm hearing are at least a few more weeks until anyone gets a shipment. Are they just that good/popular of a rim?

Luckily I bought used Arch's

However, when I got the 355's for the Dos initially (way back in fall of 06) I had to wait for those as well. Seems like they run out of stock before making more.

Worth the wait, though.

Flows are beefier for DH, dual slamom etc and weigh 50 grams more per wheel than the arches.

I saw them go out of stock from NoTubes and picked up a pr about 3 weeks ago from Universal Cycles. They're out now, I just checked...

I have two of them sitting on my bench, with no spokes, hubs or nipples to lace them up. I'll sell them for, oh, $100 each?

They have been really popular. We have been ordering about 40 a month for the last 6 months or so. We still sell out all of the time.

For you other folks, it is just the 29 version that Stanz is out of.

Dude, just go with Flows and take a dump before you ride.

In hindsight, that's what I should have done.

The Arch's are really popular and for good reason.....they're relatively light, wide and seem to hold up relatively well.

That being said....there are a few other solid 29er options that ought to be considered. I'd take a look at the Bontrager Mustand OSB rims. They're about 10 grams heavier than the Arch....but they're eyeleted and have an offset spoke bead(which creates a wheel with more even tension). They also come with a rimstrip that allows you to convert to tubeless.

Hope that helps,

B
