If I get a trailer, I prolly won't buy it from Target. My baby is worth the extra 150 or whatever.

Costco has them for 179, can't remember the brand but they don't sell crap.

The Chariot should come with a qr that will fit up too, without measuring, a spacing of at least 165 so it should be long enough to use.

I am trying to picture what you are describing but I use to run mine with a 12mm through axle and a cup for the end of the axle. I did however have to drill out the hole on the "hitch" to fit a 12mm.

As far as getting the lil one to use the helmet, leave it around the home, let her see you and the mrs wearing yours and if you have a small tricycle/big wheel type bike she uses/sits on, have her wear the helmet when ever she sits on it and keep that inside as well.
Both our kids will not get on their bikes, scooters or skates without strapping their helmets on first. If they see me walk towards the front door with the bike and no helmet they tell me to put my lid on.

yeah, they guy at rei said the one in there was longer. i was concerned it wouldn't be long enough with the added bushing.

Congratulations on the Chariot, the whole trailering idea and the little spud! We MTB-trailered our son all over SoCal and Mammoth, and he loved it. At one point we had rides with 4 or five trailers in the group, rolling through PQ like a herd.

Even though the Chariot has the bitchen suspension and the sling seat, I'll suggest you also air-down the tires to a firmness you'd use for a bike rider of the gross weight of the trailer and kid (ie like 20-22psi) off road. This not only further plushnifies the ride, it reduces hop and jounce through rocks.

I sorta saw it discussed above, but I'd suggest you basically never ride with the child in the trailer unless the mesh screen is down (or, alternatively, the vinyl window). You will toss stuff at her, including water and mud specks, just from normal riding. You'll find that the low-mount of the trailer makes for a great-handling rig and that you can ride pretty much anywhere the trailer fits and that you can control things on with the brakes. The storage behind the seat is perfect for beers and tobacco, too. (Smokeless tobacco, of course).

+1 for the Ibert. My son loves his. We can now go on a two hour+ ride without him complaining. He loves the fact that he has a better view and gets the feeling of being in the "driver's seat".

a skewer QR is provided wiht the charriot that is longer than a tradional Skewer. ask them to take it out to show you and see if you think will be long enough

I saw it, and it should be long enough for the standard application, but if I add in bushings to push the bracket past the cups on my rear axle (it's an SS that isn't meant to have QR), I'm not certain it would be long enough. I talked to a rep at Sea Otter -- they weren't officially there, but there was a woman riding a bike around with one attached and a pile of brochures on top. She said there was a chainstay version that could clamp on there. Hell, I could make my own.

Anaheim Hills Bike has a couple of cool stop trailers They look really cool.
From what I can see they are one of the more sturdy trailers. I think they are set up to do dbl or single passenger. I put one together the other day for them.
Check them out. Tell them Jason told you about them. They are in the back normally so you might not see them. The owner is Mike he is really cool.
