Default Slime Tubes

I know tubeless is all the rage, but does anyone have experience with self-sealing slime tubes? Do they work?

Put Stan's in your tubes.

Goathead and catus yes. Larger torns like Yucca maybe. Sidewall holes nope. I alway have Slime in my tubes and Stans in my Tubeless Tires. I hate flats.

edit: what they said ^^^

they work, but they're heavy

remove your valve core (if possible), and pour some stan's in your tube.

I use Slime tubes and don't really notice the weight when riding. Maybe I'm just too powerful a climber?

I think they work because I haven't had a flat since I started using them (about 3 months ago), and I ride all over the place. They are cheap enough for you to try, so that's what I would suggest. Can't hurt!

I run Heavy duty tubes, and tire liners front and rear.

I've been using slime tubes since they first came out. Hate flats, love slime.

7000+ miles in the last two years. Three flats. One after riding through a field of thorns (pulled 53 out of my tire), one that I ripped a two inch gash in my sidewall and one last week that had three holes seal up once I pulled the tube from the tire.

I usually run a lightweight in the front, regular in the rear.

I love slime. I usually buy std 1.95-2.1 tubes and put about twice as much slime in them as recommended. I've pulled a tube out (when changing a tire) that had 15 artichoke thistle thorns in it. It still held air (slow leak in between rides).

Slime tubes are good, not as good as Stans IMO, but they work pretty well. I have used them in the past, but I am now on Stans. I still carry a slime tube in my pack as a security tube.

I've had Slime tubes since they first came out when you had to actulally add it to your tubes. They work great for small thorns and stuff that would normally ruin your day.

I love my slime tubes, but when they blow you get a slime puddle inside your tire and it's a mess to clean up.

i wonder if slime is biodegradable...

i didn't have a flat yet with it, but can you just hose it down outside in the lawn?

I don't know, but I usually wait till nightfall and hose it down outside my neighbor's lawn - just in case.

On a related note - I've been looking for removable core 29er tubes. I thought Bontrager used to make some, but the ones I saw at Jax were not. Any other leads?

I love slime tubes. They keep me riding instead of fixing flats. The added weight is worth it in my opinion.

I use the 26" slime tubes in my 29er and they work great.

I saw some 29" slime tubes at Adrenaline last week. They were on the shelf near the front door.
