Default Installing cassette on a 10mm bolt on hub

Okay, so I bought a replacement rear wheel that has a 10mm bolt on rear axle instead of the QR. How do I tighten the lockring on this thing? My lockring tool has this long pin that goes into the QR thing.

I have never had that problem (not quite sure what the problem is), what tool are you using? got a pic or two?

I use the same tool for a qr, 10mm and 12mm axles, and there is no pin in the center

Is this a through bolt or threaded axle? We need pics

The bolt that holds the wheel to the frame needs to come out. It should just back right out

Either remove the axle or get a tool that has an opening for an axle to go through it.

Hmm, I guess it's a threaded axle. It has two 15mm nuts on each end.

My lockring tool looks pretty much like this:

I'm not exactly sure how to remove the bolt. I think I can see how--but it looks like I'll need TWO 15mm cone wrenches.

Take the nuts off.

Like the BMX bolt on axles, ahhhh, and some DH. You neeed to rip that pin out OR better yet, go get the correct tool without the pin.

Personally I would just stick the tool ya have in a vice and drill the pin out or use a drill press.

Thanks everybody for your help. I'm heading over to the mall and can probably pick up one of these FR-5s that you speak of at Sport Chalet.

Maybe I should've just bought a QR rear wheel!

If it's not too late, I had one of those type and needed tu use it to remove a Marzocchi top cap if I recall. When I bought the tool, the salesperson told me the pin on the one I had was meant to shear if you wanted to remove it. I just put the pin in the vice and whacked the tool with a hammer and the pin sheared at the base. I don't have my tool in front of me so I can't tell you which brand it was. but that might save you some $$.
