True, I can see how the end of the bars could get crushed from over clamping. But the clamping force from the lock-ons should be a whole lot less than the torsion you can exert grabbing onto the bar ends.

But maybe you're right and I should keep the lock-ons away from carbon.

edit: I think Ergon says their grips are fine on carbon bars. Do Ergons attach similar to lock-ons?
