Default My new roadie build

After I destroyed my road bike in a bad crash a couple years back, I haven't been out on the road much. But I realised that I was wasting Saturday mornings where I didn't have enough time to hit the dirt, but plenty of time to head out the front door and ride on some asphalt. So I went shopping for a frame to build up. Well, here it is:

I got a pretty good deal on the frame, fork, and headset from eBay--the guy even put a bunch of different coloured King headset spacers on there. Thanks to eBay and some people here at STR, I also managed to find a reasonably priced drivetrain. I've never built a bike from the beginning, so this'll be a pretty interesting experience.

Well, thanks to eBay, my parts bin, and the generosity of 2wheel_lee, who hooked me up with some ridiculous deals on parts, I have most of the parts for my build. The drivetrain is mostly Shimano 105 ten speed. I got the brifters and cassette from Lee, front and rear dérailleurs from eBay, the chain from Jenson, and the 105 dual pivot brakes were cannibalized from my old Trek (realised I still had the stock brakes so I put those back on and am selling the whole thing to a friend). The crankset is FSA Gossamer Megaexo with a triple chainring--wow, 30 speeds! Headset is a King, stem and bar are Syntace, seatpost is Thomson, and I'll be using a Brooks B17 with this thing for now.

So far, I've installed the bottom bracket, but am waiting for the tool that ordered so I can tighten it up. These external bearing cranksets are a cinch to install!
