Default SRAM XO Triggers Vs. Gripshift

I just want to know who is running XO triggers or gripshift, and the pros and cons of them.

The reason I ask is because I might sell my triggers and switch to gripshift. The biggest thing for me is the trim in the front der. with gripshift.

I have taken a quick spin on a bike with gripshift, but I would just like all your input.

Thanks!

My husband loves his gripshift, however we heard yesterday that SRAM will be discontinuing them. Not sure when....

Love my x0 triggers. Initially wasn't sure on how I would like em, but that went away after a ride or two.

pros - really light, simple, and ADJUSTABLE.
cons - can't think of any after I figured out the adjustable part

Yo Chris. Matt put on XO gripshift on my new ASR. On my 5Spot I still have X9 trigger. For a race bike I love the gripshift. I noticed going down technical trails its a little tougher to shift with grip. So to say, I wouldnt put gripshift on a trail bike or freeride due to that.

I was excited about the front trim too, but it really doesnt make a difference on my bike. I always keep the clicker on the number, maybe my drivetrain is set up perfectly where I dont need the trim.

Can't beat the grips since there lighter and less expensive too.

I use the XO gripshifters

I like being able to dump a bunch of gears with a twist of the wrist. Love being able to trim the front der. And they are lighter.

I am using the triggers and love them. I don't have any experience with the gripshifts...

i don't see why you would need to shift and brake at the same time... its not driving and no need to down shift to engine brake.

I shift and brake ALL THE TIME. Racing cross country its VERY important to always be prepared in the right gear. Going down a hill I always prepare my gear choice for what is ahead.

This could be the difference of getting caught in a tight tech section stuck causing you to walk OR spinning right through.

I don't have any intention of doing any short XC races, I do however want to start doing endurance races. And a friend told me, who uses grip shift for XC racing and endurance racing, that grips would be better.

Ah decisions, decisions...

Are these going on your ASR? I remember you telling me how light your ASR, go with the grips!

BTW, are you racing the Traverse?

Yes they will be going on my ASR.

And after looking at the info for the Traverse, I want to do it.
I just got to go on some longer training rides.

X.O gripshift here. Main reason I like the gripshift over the triggers, when I have held a yard sale or two out on the trail the grip shift seem to crack in many places but still shift with the precision they had before I wrecked 'em. With triggers I have had both levers on one shifter snap off and it was a pain to get back home. Plus I can go from 1st cog to 9th cog and back a lot faster then with triggers.

Only thing I find as a negative, not really a big deal though, is the difference of the rear dérailleurs. With the SRAM you need to twist "up" to get to a higher gear where as a shimano dérailleur and a set of SRAM Attack or Rocket gripshifts you twist "down" as you would on a motorcycle "to go faster". If you have never ridden motos then it might not make much of a differance but having ridden motos my entire life I am use to the "twist down for more speed".

Grip shifters are great when you have to time travel back to 2002 and need something to ride to the Nickelback show.

I use x-9 trigs on the am bike and x-7 twist on the DH. I really like the Grip shifters on th dh so I can dump or upshift fast. The grips a definatley more user friendly In my opinion, but I dont need them for the AM bike.
