Default Ever open up your Garmin 205/305?

If so, how'd you get in? Mine could use a little service.

No!

I just swished it around in a warm cup of water (while it was powered up) and got a good portion of the grit behind the big buttons out.

It would be easier to do if it was apart, but I am going to get the dirt out of there.

Is it water proof enough for that?

Trust me, my camera got wet and it stopped working.

I did actually run mine through a complete wash cycle in the pocket of my cycling shorts... I had a small heart attack.. I left it powered off and did not attempt to charge it for a week, as to provide time for it to dry out and it came back to life Been working well ever since

Yes, it's waterproof enough for swirling around in a cup of water.

However, JSims has given me a fantastic idea - It will be going through the wash tonight.

D'oh! It's too expensive for that kind of thing

Crazy people.

What happened to it, Jeff? Too big of a digger in the mud?

Try a stem mount?

Sorry, my bad... I meant "other" Jeff

Don't worry, Justin can't keep you guys straight when I say Jeff this or Jeff that either.

You're both beer snobs, so that doesn't help

The course is mainly decomposed granite - With no fewer than 4 decent water crossings on Sunday, some junk got underneath the big front buttons and they don't work so good.

Swirling in a cup of warm water worked on one of them, but the other still has some crud in it.

Into the wash it goes, t-minus 10 minutes and counting... I think I'll use one of Jen lingerie bags. Ehhhhhxcellennnnt.

And just for the record, I like Coors Light too.

If you do open it be careful on how water proof it is after wards , Idont know if those are sealed with a gasket or something liquid that could be ruined after you take it apart

I chose not to pry it open. It just finished one wash cycle with just water and some cushioning. Worked like a charm, both buttons now work as expected.

Thanks for the idea Jeff!

Dont be afraid to open. I used to get in trouble as A kid because i always took all my toys apart, and still do to this day. I have a 50% success rate.
