I wanted a 6point, but could only afford a Reign. Not that I'm unhappy with mine though. With the Fox 36 up front and a small air volume canister on the RP3, I'm pretty happy with it. HV canister on the RP3 sucks though, IMO.

I currently ride a Riegn, and love it. It's a 2005. I agree with everything Dino says. I had even enjoyed riding it at Mammoth once before I got my 7 point.

This has been the holy grail of bikes for me. Of the last three specs, it's easy to find a bike with two of the specs listed, but finding a frame with all three is tough.

Although I have not actually ridden on yet, of the mass-produced bikes, I think the 2008 Giant Reign X (not the standard Reign) comes the closest. Its biggest short coming is not, in fact, short. The chain stay is claimed to be 17.3" (the one I measured was 17.5"). But I think this may be my first choice.

My next choice for mass-produced bikes is the Specialized SX Trail, but once again, it has a short coming. But it's also not short. The bottom bracket is 14" tall.

So, since I can't get the geometry I want from the mass producers, I soon hope to be turning to an Intense SlopeStyle for my all-mountain/DH bike.
Does the 1/4" make that much difference in the bottom bracket? I'm curious though why is Slopestyle just that much different. I mean I know what the competition is and I think they rock but what does the changes in geometry do for you? I can see that shorter chain stays would make it manual better do the other differences make it more/less flickable. I know the weight would have a lot to do with it. I suppose something like the SC Bullit would sit somewhere just outside of those numbers...it seems not quite AM, not quite FR and not quite DH but can do any of them. (BTW, that's another bike I've been looking at...gotta show some love for the Cruz! ).

lower bb height will lower center of gravity, one factor that helps in handling
