Default Twist, twist, snap!!

Thought I'd adjust my seat last night so I loosen up the seatpost clamp, adjust the seat then start re-tightening the screws when all of a sudden...SNAP!! Oh crap, looks like I'll be picking up another seatpost soon. Luckily it was on the backup bike

Never used a torque wrench in the past and didn't think I was tightening the screws that much, but looks like I'd better invest in one now.

Yup. After the Black Star ride I thought I needed to move the seat back a little and I got a little overzealous.

Its worth a shot. Nothing to lose since it's junk now anyways. I'll have to check out their warranty info.

I seem to recall having a hard time finding warranty info when I broke a Thomson stem. I'd just call your LBS. Adrenaline & Path (and probably Switchback) all carry them - I'm sure they can help with info and/or shipping.

Default How old

is that post?

WOW never even heard of anyone breaking a Thomson. I would have thought the bolt would have broke before snapping the post.

Agree with others....... send it to Thomson and see what they say

It's probably 3 years old now, but with low miles and it was on a dual suspension bike so I would think the stresses wouldn't be as much as a hardtail. Plus I'm strictly an XC rider (read: I can't jump)I also thought the bolts should've failed first.

what ever you do, don't mention that you didn't use a torque wrench.

Thompson products get torqued to 47 in-lbs, which is less than most of us can put out through our hands.
