Actually there is a fix for it. More than likely the bolt that holds the chainring side crank arm on is cracked or the threads are stripped. Remove that crank arm, clean off the bolt and check it really well and check the axle threads as well. If the threads are stripped out or if the bolt is cracked then send it back to race face under warranty replacement. |

An idea only. What if the chain ring were to have more of a square cut.A little less chamfer from gear to gear to give a rougher transfer? Smooth shifts are nice, but not always the best way to go, like square cut gears on a race tranny. Just a long shot!I do not understand bike drive trains as well as cars.

I was having the same issue after I replaced my middle OEM Race face ring with another brand of chainring I had issue with the chain falling between the little and middle cog (generally on the down shift). So eventually I just gave up and went and bought a Race Face Race ring for the middle and everything is back to normal.
I guess the rings are just spaced and offset a little differently. I don't know if this could be your issue, but a new little and middle ring is cheaper than a new crankset. Also, if anyone has a set of Deus XC X-types they aren't happy with, shoot me a pm and I could give you some $ for them. |
