I just bought a used 07 Float 36RC2 and changed out the oil. It seems awfully noisy on rebound. It seems like it is coming from the right rebound leg. It almost sounds like air is getting sucked in through the seals as the fork is coming up. Anyone else ever experience this?

It's normal to have some noise. Just make sure you used the correct amount of fork oil when you serviced it.

Fox calls for 25cc in each side of 7 wt. Shouldn't make much difference on the fork oil. Sounds like everything is normal with your fork.

I have a 140-Float RLC and a Pushed 100-Float RLC.They both made the same noise new or after a rebuild. As long as you don't hear a clunking noise, you should be okay.- Lloyd

I've got a 2008 36, that's noisy as well, talking to the fox guys, the hydraulic noise is pretty normal. A change in oil weight and oil quality (spectro full synthetic 6 ish weight) did the trick to a certain extent, it's still makes sime noise, but once you get up to warp speed you can't hear anything!!!
Seems like you'll have to weight until 2009 for a quieter 36, the new versions will have a few tweaks to the internals to quiet them down a little. |
