Default Anyone else have problems with Specialed rear shock?

I currently have a 07 Specialized Stumpjumer with specialized rear shock and brain. I have had the bike about 5 months and will be on my fourth shock in a few days. I ride strictly cross country trails so I am not doing anything to overly abuse it.
From what I heard at the bike shop, Specialized knows they have problem with the 07 shock. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues, and if so were you able to get Specialzied to replace it with an 08 shock.

If the shop can get it replaced they are probably the best people to talk to. Never had a problem with our suspension, but Specialized is pretty good about dealing with warranty stuff from my experience.

The First time the shock dumped all the fluid, which resulted in needing a new shock, and major brake service. The next shock after two weeks would squish an inch and a half when you sat on the bike. The third shock which is the current one, skips and is real rough when compressed, and then doesn't rebound correctly. This is the problem that Specialized supposedly knows about. Each shock was supposedly replaced with a brand new one each time.

My riding partner has 07 brain in his Stumy. He has had problems setting it up. It bobs going uphill, and not plush enough when coming down. Even a trip to the LBS didn't solve it.

I keep telling him to get Specialized to replace it, but he's been to laz to be on their case.

Go over to emptybeer, there is a VERY lengthy thread in the Specialized forum that has taken a good turn recently - Specialized is finally confirming that there is a problem and issuing service bulletins for forks and shocks. There is a Specialized technician posting information now...

I asked my LBS about this and what they're doing is working directly with Spec to ensure that any 07 stuff gets swapped out for 08 when it comes back on warranty.

I have an 07 Stumpy FSR with the Triad and noticed on my last ride the rear shock just didn't feel right. Like I always had a flat.

What is emptybeer? Is that a site or forum? google didn't know it.

Triad is a Fox shock, it is not subject to the same issues that the Specialized branded shocks are. It has it's own issues from what I've read, but I haven't had one myself so I can't really say.

I do know that I put a RP23 in place of the Septune on my 05 Stumpy and that was a nice upgrade.

I have a 2007 Stumpy and have had it for over a year with about 1500 miles on it and have not had a single problem with the rear shock. It is still nearly as plush as the day I bought it.

That's the one thing that scared me most about Specialized making their own rear shocks and forks.
