Default Fork Question...

So I've got a Fox 32 RLC on my Heckler and I ran the whole Fontana course with it locked out today by accident. I kept hearing a strange noise but couldn't pin point it while riding. It wasn't until I got home and realized I had locked it out on the pavement climb and forgotten. (I think the strange noise was what ever passes as a blow-off valve on the fork) I didn't take any huge hits just that really rocky section on the singletrack in the back of the course. It seemed to be fine when I rode it from the car to the front door but I was wondering if there was anything I should look for in way of performance to see if I did any damage.

I'm feeling a bit stupid right now and am hoping I didn't do anything to bad to it! They're pretty tough little forks so here's hoping.

You know I actualy didnt notice at the time but looking back yeah it was a bit rougher than I remember previous runs....faster too. The two places that could've caused real problems I ended up doing wheely drops and the rear took most of the hit. I'm sure it'll be okay...I have to remind myself that these rigs are designed to be abused a bit. I baby them so much though.

I rode at Aliso w/ my rear fox shock locked out. I kept hearing a screeching/scraping sound and then I realized, duh, I forgot to unlock it. The shock was too hot too touch but once cool it worked fine again. I think it will be fine. Time will tell. We've all done it.

Oh yeah we have! Your RLC will be fine.

I also have a tendancy to leave forks in the lower travel settings...In one case, recently, I was doing a 5' drop to flat, and I accidentally left my Talas 36 at 100 mm. I wondered why the landings (I did two) were a little harsh.

They also have blowoff valves to protect the lockout if you take too big of a hit while locked out. It'll be ok.- Lloyd

Me too! One time I went of the curb with my 01' Judy and it was very harsh...

Hey Jack, How are ya?

2 weeks ago Rob, TJ, and I rode Chiquito, and I left my fork in "lock" mode going downhill (Rockshox Pike). The wierd thing was, I didn't even notice until I looked at my fork after the downhill. It stayed stuck in "locked" mode; mechanic had to replace the compression cartridge. He said probably had nothing to do with downhilling while locked; it was a coincidence.
Have you ever done Chiquito? Same upper trailhead as San Juan. we should meet up there sometime and shuttle it.
-Gary (remember, from that san clemente ride?)
