Default My new ride

Here's the work in progress thus far.....

A few problems encountered.....Hope brake caliper on the front touches the spokes requiring spacers for the disc and/or more spoke tension (rebuilt wheel). Front derailleur wont fit because of revised 08 swing arm arrangement. Finally - every other epic except the marathon frame only model routes the rear brake caliper under the top tube and straight down the seat stay - this one goes under the down tube then under the chain stay then has to come up to the caliper??? I'm sure it'll rub on my shoe or calf when riding. No clue why Spesh would do this !!

Nice, new bikes are fun.....

Had a caliper spoke problem on a Maverick DUC Chris King combo once. Fixed it by going to a bigger rotor up front. Put a Seven inch rotor on there.

That's a nice bike! All Specialized bikes are!

I bet that thing weighs under 24 lbs! What size frame is that? Looks like a L or XL...

Not sure on the finished weight yet as I'll need a new FD, different seat and post to go on aswell as the chain. I'd guess at 25lbs.

Here's the spec:

Epic ‘08 alloy frame
Hope Mini Mono Pro’s
XTR drive train
Hinde Racing 11-32 one piece alloy cassette
Easton 25.4mm bars
WCS 4axis 90mm stem]
Masterpiece Post
X-Max SL’s
CK headset
F120 RLC (rather than F100 - to take a degree off the headangle and help dodge trees at high speed

Talking OMG....grasshopper!

You didn't mention your grips... they are the best! I've become a believer after putting them on the 29er SS.

Hopefully see you soon on the trails

Ah yes, I havent tried them yet so cant comment on whether they are any good but they've been sat in my cupboard since Sea Otter last year (only $10 too).

Sweeett bike. I was thinking about getting an Epic for racing. The F100 is a bitchin fork, I was so stoked when I got mine. Yours will feel even better with the extra travel!

You need a 29er

I ran ESI grips for a bit... but, nothing beats the Ergon grips with bar ends for comfort (they are heavy, but I'll sacrifice some things).

Like you need a light bike? I think you need a Stinky...no nevermind then you'll just get faster then everyone else on that!

Glad to see you got a new bike. How's the arm? Nice freekin build too.
