Default Ooops - Need Your Help (Hyd. Brakes)!

I hit my brake lever with my front wheel off the fork and can't get the wheel back in since the pads are almost closed. How can I release the brake? It is a Shimano hydraulic brake.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!

I hear that's bad but I've never done it. I'm interested to know how to fix it if it happens.

Thanks a lot, guys. I didn't see the other thread. I honestly don't know if I feel comfortable messing with this and may just take it to my LBS tomorrow and see what they do.

Just get a flathead screwdriver or a tire lever if it will fit. Spread them apart.

If your going to use a flat blade screw driver, put in an old set of pads that you won't mind buggering up. It can be done without jacking them up, but if it's your first time you have a chance of buggering. Its not that hard to do, if the shops cool they won't charge you to do it, but once you see it done, you'll tell yourself you coulda done that, it really is that simple.

Just pulled them open w/ a screwdriver. I think I'm gonna go have one of those now!!! I can hear a very, very slight rub from the pads while the wheel is spinning, but don't think it'll be a problem.

Appreciate the help! As a newb, I know I can always count on this great group for good advice! Thanks again

A butter knife is what they use in many shops.
