Default proper chain length

I am putting on a new chain and im not sure how long it should be. I know there is a trick to measuring it but forgot. Can you please help me out?

Put it on the smallest cog and the smallest chainring and then shorten it so that the chain is just barely short enough to not rub on the rear der cage. If you are running a bike with 6" or more of travel or a short cage rear derailler then add one full chain (outer+inner link) length to the above measurement. This works 99% of the time.

Are you running SS? If so, SAR Boats recomendation is the way to go. If your geared, Sniffers is the way to go.
By the by Sniffer....when you asked me this question the other day, did you already know the answer?
