What is your price range, that will have a lot to do with what wheel you go for.

If you're looking for a complete wheel set, Mavic has some on their site for under $300.00. I have a pair of Crossmax SX wheels and I couldn't be happier but I have heard some no so nice stories as well. Probably common with any complete wheel set from one manufacturer though.

Hope this helps

DMR Revolver front hub 174 gms $43
http://www.ebikestop.com/items/004-HU3097

American classic rear hub 285gms $49 auction but retails for $180 (257 gms)
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMERICAN-CLASSIC...QQcmdZViewItem

Dt revolution spokes $0.75ea (140gms per wheel)
http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?ID=42000

2 sets of alu spoke nipples at $5 per wheel at performance laguna hills. (12gms per wheel)

Mavix x517 rims for $57 (410 gms each)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mavic-X517-MTB-R...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm not a fan of 36hole wheelsets, but with this setup you can build a sub 1600gm wheelset for potentially $213 + shipping for the front hub.

Jojo, you only really need a rear rim. You could just buy a rim and have it laced to you rear hub.

But if you want a wheel to keep and take to other bikes, how about a custom built wheel? Stans Arch on a hope pro II hub from the Path shouldn't be more than $300 for the rear wheel only.

aka the WTB Laser Lite. I'll second this and say this a great hub for XC applications. I rolled these front and back on my old XC bike and they were great. Also probably one of the easiest hubs to rebuild.

Pugz got real mad at Jox2, picked up a guy riding by on a trek cross bike and tried to toss him on Jox2. Luckily for everyone Jox2 dodged the trek rider and the bike. His rear wheel was not so lucky.

Mike Garcia at oddsandendos or something. I got a 1600g wheelset for $350 shipped. Nothing else can come close to that price for that weight.
