What kind of brakes? Are you talking about play as in the lever moves loose in it's housing or about the amount of throw in the lever before the brakes lock?

mechs/ hydros? like rob said in the lever or in the stroke ?it all makes a difference. In mechs a little no contact play before they grab is ok, Hydris should never really have free play they should just be intially softer in the beginning of the stroke.

If those are Hydro brakes, sounds like you need to bleed the air out of the system.

I setup my hydros (Oro Puro's) to engaged very close to the bars. I am a one finger braker. With engagement close to the bar my braking grip does not get tired on long downhills. Most brakes have a travel adust, small hex nut near lever pivot.

Brakes are SO overrated!!!

Riding a brake-less rig is the new rigid 29" SS phenomena and trend.

Pinoi, bring it in and we can adjust it to your liking. Like DStepper mentioned, he likes his engagement close to the bar but others likes it to bite right away.

I better work on my brakes too...hehehehehe
