I did a quick ride on these at Daley. I didn't want to mess up the singletrack, so they've only been on fireroad so far. I bumped them over some rocks, but I haven't dropped off any ledges or anything yet. Elfin Forest will be the real test I think.
So far so good though. I put them on the stand and they're out ever so slightly. Like, you can't tell just by spinning them. You have to put one of the feelers up next to the rim for it to go scrapity scrape. They feel better than the old rims -- maybe a bit lighter. They seem to roll better. Thing is, maybe I'm not skeeled enough to really tell the difference. If for no other reason, it will be worth it to have the better spokes (DT Swiss Competition vs. who knows straight). Plus, the sides are a lot pertier than those v-brake ridged sides on the old set (old being about 3 months old )Maybe the next place to try is Black Mountain RB. There are some rocky spots there that are hElfinish.
