Good info. I have a bladder that is defective too. True I bought it from Steep & Cheap, but it should still work.

find a place that deals in waterbeds...same idea with the patching material and might save the struggle.

yes...I know you were kidding....I have thicker skin than that and dish it out as well...it's part of life...and it makes it fun.
As for me handling anything on the bike like you...I can only wish....now let me get my Big Wheel out to rebuild my self-esteem

I worked in clean rooms at Amgen for several years in facilities where injectable drugs were manufactured. Silicone sealant application was one of the things I did regularly in these areas (which are highly regulated).

The silicone adhesive we mostly used in these areas was Dow Corning 738. I'm not a chemist, nor do I play one on TV, but if I had to effect a silicone repair on something I were going to drink from that is what I would use.

That said, although I think your spirit of conservation and recycling is commendable, I would be hesitant to patch a Camelbak reservoir. Maybe you could cut it into long strips and wrap it onto your chainstay to guard against chain slap.

Choose your battles wisely. JMHO.

The company I work for are the local Dow Corning sales reps

738 is a "methoxy" curing RTV silicone. From the MSDS : "Methyl alcohol forms on contact with water or humid air." I'd use it too on something I'd be drinking from out of

Seriously strong stuff, totally inert once cured. remains flexible. Resists just about everything (water, oxidation, UV, ozone, temperature) pretty. Good call if Camelbak doesn't come through for you.
