Ok we're 90% complete now. I got my donated Manitou fork today and had some fun installing that sucker. I ended up having to take the fork and the lower bearing race to Performance to have them jam the race down the steer tube and seating properly.

Then when we got home and I started the install, the steer tube turned out to be longer as it came from a Large Trance frame and this is a medium. My pipe cutting tool broke so I had to bust out w/ the elbow grease and hacksawed that puppy LOL good work out.

Got the clamps for the Odi grips today w/ my gift card so the red will go w/ the chainring bolts

Here's the donated Manitou fork...it's a Coil spring fork should be interesting as I havent ridden on a coil spring fork in a while

I have to get some vice grips to remove that last V-brake post

Here my littlest one is learning to wrench now

Bad bad pipe cutter

So I had to resort to a little elbow grease

Here it is, 90% complete...just waiting for disc brakes now

Took it for a quick spin and I noticed that i'm a bit upright feels like my Epiphany I thought maybe i should be more laid out but I guess not...maybe I can swap out some of the headset spacers to lower the stem or flip the stem around. I'll have to play with it. Anyway on the initial shake down she was great, spokes you can tell were settling as they are new wheels. I can't wait to get this thing out on the trail.

I'd be all for that Nam; but if you look closely...there's no brakes i tried fred flinstone'ing it tonight when i shook her down and that was quite interesting.

How's it going w/ your SS? Oh and 20 tooth cog seems to be the ideal ticket for me.

if you can afford to add another bike to your stable. you may suck wind but you will eventually get stronger (that's what i'm being told it could all be a sick joke to see us suffer though )

its always nice to be able to ride a different bike once in a while, so i may consider a SS someday, plus the fact i can build one on the cheap like yours and COLEKO's project.

The best way to build one on a budget is when you upgrade your current bike with new wheels, brakes, cranks.., etc, you end up with parts. That's how I built mine. Then it got upgrades when my other bikes gets upgraded. It's a cycle that can't be broken I tell ya!
