Was trying to choose a new set of cranks. Got a lot of support from all of you at STR. Now I have made my choice. Decide to go with FSA K-force lites. They are carbon cranks. Does anyone have any concerns about using carbon cranks? I will be using them for racing and all around riding. Thanks to all and to all a goodnight.

I also don't think I'd go with carbon cranks (other than maybe on a roadie, but mine has alum.). Unless they are lighter and cheaper than XTR's..
![]() But, I've got a good set of Middleburn RS7 Uno's on my XC rig. I bash my cranks now and then and wouldnt' want to worry about them breaking off or something. I'm sure they are durable, though. |

I debated going with some carbon cranks recently, but opted not to. My complete lack of skill means I have a lot of pedal/crank rock encounters, so that's one part of the bike where I think it's best to stick to metal.

The FSA ones in question are full carbon I-beam design. Only a little lighter then the XTR crank. Was also considering the middleburns RS8's.

in the spirit of the thread, ill throw these in, just cause they're sexy looking:
http://www.thm-carbones.de/english/P...avicula_DH.php but in real life i would just go with a nice set of aluminum. XTR are definitely sweet. Even the '08 XT's i currently have are great. stiff, light, and still look pimp. i hit my cranks on too many things to justify making them carbon. its one of those places you want to be able to gouge without worrying about structural integrity |
