Awesome!

This is something that I'm surprised doesn't happen more often. Although it may take away a small bit of service business, in the long run it makes happy customers who are familiar with their bikes.

I used to hold maintenance clinics for my company's bike club, and it was interesting to see the levels of participation - from the full-on newbs to the well-experienced cyclists. In the end, we all learned a lot, and the newbs can now better take care of their bikes. And actually, even though some of them will probably never work on their bikes, they now understand the importance of regular maintenance, and they now know to take their bikes to the shop a little more often to get serviced. So maybe your service business may increase!

After the first clinic I did, I quickly learned that there probably should be two levels: One group that needs the absolute basics (no tools), and another group who wants to know the basics of adjusting brakes and derailleurs. This could be split up into first half and second half (1/2 to 1 hour each). Many people from the first group will never comprehend most of the aspects of the second level, and they can quickly get lost with the deer-in-the-headlights look.

On a related note, does anyone remember the little chrome drivetrain demo displays that Schwinn shops had in the late 70s and early 80s? These were great for teaching how shifters work as well as how to tune derailleurs. Although I can make one of these with modern equipment, I think it would be interesting to find one of the old Schwinn displays.

I've actually gone to a basic maintinence class that one of the Trek superstores held and it was very imformative but also very basic.

I'm actually on break right now from school so I'll be spending most of my time in L.N. at my parents house, also about two miles from the REVO shop so that would be absolutely amazing if you could help me out in any way. Are you a mechanic? Anyways any help from a vet would be awsome. Thanks
Yeah I am a mechanic there. I'm off Wed., but will be there Thursday and up until Christmas Eve, then gone for 4 days for some Norcal riding
