Default Dj Fork

I'm looking at forks for my 4x/dj bike I wanted to keep it at 100mm to keep the headtube angle nice and steep so my only options for through axles are the argyle series and the DirtJumpers. Can you easily shorten up the travel and stiffen up the springs on a more commonly available for like a pike. It would be way easyier on the wallet if I could find a used pike to use on my 4x bike.
