On my Mini's (new style with the plastic/phenolic pistons) I had the braided lines, multiple bleeds, multiple different pad types. The damn things have the power of v brakes. Then once they get hot you need the GI Joe kung fu grip to stop.

Other than that they look cool

I have to say I'm a skeptic on "strong" 29" wheels but I'll keep an open mind and hope you end up with a winner.

I agree with Craig, the M4 is the only way to fly unless you are building a xc race bike. I use to run a mini on my 5 Spot in the rear and even with EBC red pads, braided lines and floating rotor it would fade BADLY on any extended downhill.

Justin--congrats on the new rig!! I know you've been eyeing it since Interbike (if not before). I'm stoked for you that it's finally going to happen. It's a bad @$$ looking bike for sure.

I too am eagerly waiting for the Crank Bros seatpost. I hope they hurry the hell up and release them soon!!

Why no info on the Lenz web site about the Lunchbox? I need details and specs! I like my 6point but big wheels would be better.

the bike is really very similar to the Bohemoth with short stays. the biggest difference is 150mm spacing rear end so that you can build a stronger wheel.

if you aren't going to go big on the bike, the Bohemoth is a great bike!!!!

some day the fork manufacturer idiots and hub knobs will build a front end that is 135mm spacing for extra strength... i am not holding my breath.

i have been sending emails back and forth with Mike Curiak and i guess his fork was limited to 140 at Interbike, so i may wind up copying him.

I had both sets with 180mm rotors. The M4's squeeeeeld like Mike Vicks dog fighting crew.

The mini's just work...and work good. Duno about the new mini's.

However for DH stuff no way!

this bike won't quite be DH, but it will be going very fast down lots of hills. i am leaning toward the M4 on the rear now after hearing someone other than cranky clink speak up.

The three that warned you about the mono mini had 26" wheels, the 29" have more leverage and should get the bigger brake. I almost wrote "that's a cool looking 29er" then I backspaced it cuz I don't dig 29ers. J/K cool bike, look forward to seeing it. BTW somedays when I wake up I'm 165lbs, other days 162lbs, sometimes 172, I don't think a 1/4lb lighter titanium spring will help me on anyday. put the bling somewere else if you go coil.

i have ridden a bike with them on it, in D-ville. they were good. they are very much like my Juicy's though (Formula designed the Juicy brakes). i wanted to try something different and have been looking at trying the famous hope brakes for a long time.

if i wasn't going to go hope i would probably get the new XT's, Formulas were third on the list.

and Hope's.

Hope's hands down have a way better feel.

Those limey's can't build cars but sure can build brakes

We've set up a few bikes at work with the new XT's and they have been really great to work on. Very easy to set them up and they work really well.

My next set of brakes I plan on using the Hope M4's.
I only hear good things about the new XT brakes, but most of the rave is in the new servo wave lever design, not the caliper. I was curious so I stopped into the lbs the other day to check 'em out. The pads are and pistons are pretty small, maybe about 10-15% smaller than the ones on my Hayes. For your intended purposes I don't think that would be what your looking for. Trail-bike, xc bike, sure...not super d or downhill worthy in my opinion. Not to mention, they are just about as pricey as the Hopes right now. Nice build spec's by the way.

I should have also mentioned that I bought the Hope disc tab facing tool because yes the Hopes can be noisy. Facing the tabs helps a lot, but I don't like the stock pads very much at all on the minis or M4. I run Kool-Stop pads in my M4's (u can use pads made for the old XT brakes), and as far as my new M6's I run the stock pads and they have actually been really quiet.

Out of my 4 bikes I only run the minis on my Burner which weighs 26lbs. They do the job ok, but for any bike with more travel that you'd be riding more aggressively the minis aren't gonna cut it.
