Default Just changed

the tube on my Stan's Flows / Specialized Resolutions. I was really rough the first time I mounted these tires.

Today used a lever to break the bead and only used my hands (no lever) to get it back on

I finally got my tires mounted. Put holes in 3 tubes, destroyed one Park tire lever, broke another cheap thin lever, took off several chunks of skin on my knuckles, and popped the tire off the rim once.

I ordered a set of valves, sealant, and yellow tape from Stans. I managed to destroy the blue tape on the rear wheel applied by The Path. I applied the yellow tape per the No Tubes video. Mounted the tire with a 29" tube and tried to inflate the tire. Low and behold I put hole in the tube while trying to mount the tire. At this point I gave up trying to use a tube.

I inserted the Stan valve and mounted the tire. I didn't use any sealant and tried to see if I could get the wheel to hold air. it worked amazingly. While pumping the tire up to just shy of 40psi the tire blew off the wheel. Scarring the crap out of me and my wife.

I remounted the tire, pulled the valve cores and added between 2-3 ounces of sealant. I could get the tire to hold air with a floor pump so I went to the gas station to use the compressor. This worked like a charm.

I am not really sure what I am going to do if I need to do trailside repairs. At this point I have been completely unsuccessful mounting my tires with tubes and without compressed air. I will have to hope and pray either nothing happens or I can re-inflate the tires with CO2 cartridges.

So after at least 5 hours of trying over several days I have 2 tires mounted without tubes. As a result I was finally able to take my bike off the stand and make final adjustments, seat angle, number of spacers, brake lever angle, etc. The only thing left is to get the fork cut and I am ready to ride. Except for my self imposed injured list status for the next few weeks.

what tires are you using?

Just got back from riding the San Clemente Single Tracks and got ANOTHER FLAT! (going tubeless soon).

Again the tire came right off the rim with a lever and back on by hand.

Duno what to say

Stan Arch and Bontrager Dry-X. I hear yah. I have never had so much trouble mounting a tire. Generally tires go on my hand or with a little help from a tire iron. Not these damn things. i work up a sweat in a 55 degree room.
